House Of Representatives Approves The Report Of The Committee On Fct On Investigation Of The Centenary City Project

The House of Representatives at its plenary session of Thursday, March 16th 2017 approved and adopted the report of the Committee on Federal Capital Territory titled“Investigation into the alleged irregularities surrounding the Centenary City Project”.

The report which was presented by the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Herman Hembe (APC: Benue), was considered by the Committee of the Whole and the following recommendations approved:

  • That the Statutory Rights of Occupancy purportedly revoked by the former FCT Minister, Sen. Bala Mohammed in respect of the area covered by the Centenary City should be restored back to its original owners;
  • That the Right of Occupancy and Certificate of Occupancy purportedly granted to the Centenary City Plc by the former FCT Minister should be withdrawn by the present FCT Minister, Mohammed Musa Bello;
  • That the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria should direct the Managing Director of the Nigerian Export Processing Zone Authority through the Minister for Industry, Trade and Investment to revoke the Certificate of Free Trade Zone granted to the Centenary City Plc. Furthermore, that the Centenary City Plc. be deregistered as a Free Zone Entity; and,
  • That relevant law enforcement agencies, including but not limited to the Code of Conduct Bureau and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, should investigate and prosecute the parties involved in the promotion/selection of Centenary City Plc. as investors and their roles in the management of the Centenary City project. The promoters include the former Secretary General of the Federation, Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim, former FCT Minister, Sen. Bala Mohammed one Ms. Boma Ozobia and Mr. Paul Oki, who were Directors of Centenary City Plc.
