Senate Calls On The Federal Government To Provide Adequate Security At Railway Stations

The Senate at its plenary session of Tuesday, 30 January 2018, called on the Federal Government to deploy adequate security personnel and scanning machines at the railway stations across the country.

Presentation the motion titled “Urgent need to deploy scanning machines and adequate Security Personnel in the all the Railway Stations across the Federation.” Sen. Theodore Orji (PDP: Abia) expressed concern over the lack of security in railway stations across the country as it made them susceptible to terrorist attacks and criminal activities. He also decried the inability of the Federal Government to protect the lives and properties of its citizens who travel by railway as discouraging.

The Senate further mandated its Committee on Transportation to ensure that the Ministry of Transportation, which it oversights complied with its resolution.
