PLAC organised a retreat of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, with the objective of reviewing the Police Bill and the Nigeria Police Academy Bill sponsored by Sen. Halliru Jika. This retreat was the first major activity of the Committee since its inauguration. The Retreat held on Friday, 13 December and Saturday, 14 December 2019 in Lagos. Participants included members of the Senate Committee of Police Affairs, high level officers of the Nigerian Police Force, members of the Police Service Commission, Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Police Affairs, the representative of the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters (Senate), the Commandant and Provost of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil and several other persons affiliated to these agencies/institutions. The retreat was a good opportunity to begin deliberations on its contents and build consensus among critical stakeholders.
