The House of Representatives on Tuesday 6th November 2018 Rescinded on an earlier approval of the Virement/ Supplementary budget for the Independent National Electoral Commission as contained in the Votes and Proceedings of 17 October 2018 and recommitted same to the Committee of supply for consideration. The same total budget sum was however adopted.
This was sequel to a motion moved by Hon. Bala Dawaki (APC: Kano) who noted that the House had approved sum of Two Hundred and Forty-Two Billion, Two Hundred and Forty-Five Million, Fifty Thousand, one hundred Naira (N242,245,050,100) only as the Virement/Supplementary budget for INEC and Security Agencies for the conduct of the 2019 General Elections to the, which is to be funded from the Service Wide Votes.
However, he stated that given some “imminent issues” of national importance, the virement/supplementary request cannot be implemented as earlier approved. The House then reconsidered and approved the sum of Two Hundred and Forty-Two Billion, Two Hundred and Forty-Five Million, Fifty Thousand, one hundred Naira (N242,245,050,100) only, which was the amount originally approved on the 16th October 2018. The sums now approved are contained in the table below:
