The House of Representatives has postponed consideration of the report of the Committee on Constitution Review after its electronic voting system failed to record accurately the number of members who were voting on the Bills was stalled at plenary session on Thursday, 27 July 2017. Customarily, electronic voting are used to facilitate the process as the constitutional review process requires passage of alteration bills by a two-thirds majority of both chambers of the National Assembly after which the Bills must be transmitted to State Houses of Assembly who must concur by a two third majority.

The amendments before the House include provisions providing for affirmative action for women, independent candidacy, devolution of powers, reducing the age limit to run for elective position for President, Vice President, Governor, Senator, member of the House of Representatives and State House of Assembly.

The House has now scheduled voting for its plenary session on Thursday, 27 July 2017.
