PLAC convened a CSO meeting on Security Sector Reform in Nigeria themed “CSOs Role in Agenda Setting for Security Sector Reform in the 9th National Assembly” on 31 July 2019. The meeting was attended by a wide array of civil society organisations working on security sector reform in Nigeria, including partners that PLAC has been working with to advance the Police Bill. The meeting was aimed at discussing ways of bringing back outstanding security reform related issues such as the passage of the Police Bill, on the legislative agenda. The bill was considered and passed by the 8th Senate but failed in the House. The meeting also sought to discuss reform priorities and CSOs strategy for engaging the newly inaugurated 9th Assembly and its committees with the view to contributing to agenda setting on security sector reform for the 9th Assembly.
