President Buhari To Present 2017 Budget Next Week

President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the National Assembly leadership notifying both chambers of his intention to present the 2017 budget in a joint session, on the morning of Wednesday, 14th December 2016.

In the letter read by the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki (APC:Kwara) and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara (APC:Bauchi) respectively on Tuesday 6th December 2016, President Buhari also promised to state how the Federal Government plans to lead the country out of recession.

It would be recalled that the Senate had concurred with a resolution of the House of Representatives in October 2016 to invite President Buhari to address a joint session of both Legislative Houses to highlight modalities of how it intended to lead Nigeria out of recession. The Committees on Appropriations in the Senate and the House of Representatives are also currently considering the Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper which is expected to be approved before the budget is presented.
