The Senate on Tuesday 8th November 2016 mandated its Committees on FCT, Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions and Procurement to investigate the abandonment of N8 billion office head quarters project by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB). Sen. Dino Melaye (APC:Kogi) moving the motion stated that the Code of Conduct Bureau had gotten the approval of the Federal Executive Council for the construction of its headquarters at the Central Business District, Abuja. He noted that a contract for the construction was awarded at about 3 billion which was later reviewed to 8 billion naira. Sen. Melaye further noted that about N1, 407,263,884 billion had been paid for the construction, which represents 16% of the contract sum. He also added that the cumulative job done on the construction is estimated at 10%.
He went on to mention that the Code of Conduct Bureau rather than see to the completion of the construction of the headquarters requested for the purchase of a completed nine storey building in the 2016 budget at the sum of 4.4billion also located at the Central Business District. He therefore called on the Senate to investigate the matter before the purchase is perfected.
