Senate Approves 2016 Budget Of 14 Ministries, Departments And Agencies

The Senate on Wednesday 7th December 2016 approved the 2016 budget of some Ministries, Department and Agencies. It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had requested the Senate and House of Representatives to consider and approve the budget of 38 (Thirty-Eight) MDAs in July 2016. The budget of the various MDAs was then referred to relevant committees for further legislative action.

The Budget approved for the following MDAs include:

  1. N1,922,919,000 (One Billion, Nine Hundred and Twenty Two Million, Nine Hundred and Nineteen Thousand Naira) for the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC)
  2. N132,550, 000 (One Hundred and Thirty Two Million, Five Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) for the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)
  3. N2,342,251,002.05 (Two Billion, Three Hundred and Forty Two Million, Two Hundred and Fifty One Thousand, Two Naira, Five kobo) for the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN)
  4. N5,000,000,000 (Five Billion Naira) for the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA)
  5. N499, 654, 340.22 (Four Hundred and Ninety Nine Million Six Hundred and Fifty Four Thousand Three Hundred and Forty Naira,Twenty Two kobo) for the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA)
  6. N1, 246, 461, 157 (One Billion, Two Hundred and Forty Six, Four Hundred and Sixty One Thousand, One Hundred and Fifty Seven Naira) for the National Business and Technical Education Board (NABTEB)
  7. N 5,413,949,856.00 (Five Billion, Four Hundred and Thirteen Million, Nine Hundred and Forty Nine Thousand, Eight Hundred and Fifty Six Naira) for the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC)
  8. N10, 634, 353,111 (Ten Billion, Six Hundred and Thirty Four Million, Three Hundred and Fifty Three, One Hundred and Eleven Naira) for the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC)
  9. N 1,868,500,000.00 (One Billion Eight Hundred and Sixty Eight Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira) for the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS)
  10. N 7,486, 246, 244 (Seven Billion, Four Hundred and Eighty Six Million, Two Hundred and Forty Six Thousand, Two Hundred and Forty Four Naira) for the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM)
  11. N 408, 808, 748.69 (Four Hundred and Eight Billion, Eight Hundred and Eight Million, Seven Hundred and Forty Eight Thousand, Sixty-Nine kobo) for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)
  12. N 64, 952, 844, 987 (Sixty Four Billion, Nine Hundred and Fifty Two Million, Eight Hundred and Forty-Four Thousand, Nine Hundred and Eighty-Seven Naira) for the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC)
  13. That the sum of N4, 676, 834, 724.26 (Four Billion, Six Hundred and Seventy Six Million, Eight Hundred and Thirty Four Thousand, Seven Hundred and Twenty Four and Twenty Six kobo) should be approved as projected revenue and N4,635, 418,665.16 (Four Billion, Six Hundred and Thirty Five Million, Four Hundred and Eighteen Thousand, Seven Hundred and Sixty Five Naira and Sixteen Kobo) as projected expenditure for the Federal Housing Authority (FHA).
  14. N 11,047,000,000 (Eleven Billion, Forty Seven Million) should be approved for the Federal Mortgage Bank
