The House of Representatives has mandated its Ad-hoc committee on Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to investigate the alleged directives from the Director General (DG) of the Budget Office demanding that FERMA remits capital fund allocated for the execution of capital projects back to the treasury. Moving the Motion under matters of urgent public importance at the plenary session of Wednesday, November 16th 2016, Hon. Frederick Agbedi (PDP: Bayelsa) expressed dismay over the actions of the DG stating that it had halted the Agencies plans to repair and maintain dilapidated roads across the country.
Hon. Agbedi explained that in accordance with the Appropriation Act 2016, the National Assembly in October 2016, had approved the release of part of the funds appropriated to the Agency to enable it implement infrastructural projects. Thus, the DG requesting for remittance of these funds should be investigated.
The Adhoc Committee is expected to report back its findings within one (1) week.
