Legislative Internship
PLAC

The second bi-weekly meeting for the LIP was held on Friday, 3rd November 2023 at the PLAC office in Abuja with members of the PLAC team in attendance. Resource persons included Mr. Benjamin Ekeyi, Legislative Strengthening/Legislative Policy Expert; Dr. Anthony Ojukwu, Executive Secretary, National Human Rights Commission; Reuben Imarha, Esq., Chief Law Research Officer at Nigerian Law Reform Commission and Legal Advisor at Legacy Leadership & Development Outreach (LLDO).

The concluding activity for the day was the interns’ election of principal members for the Model Legislative Assembly (MLA). The following interns emerged as principal officers in the elections:

  1. Speaker – Yassir Kassim (Kano)
  2. Deputy Speaker – Aminat Sanni (Lagos)
  3. Majority Leader – Anne Marie Amadi Emina (Delta)
  4. Deputy Majority Leader – Shekinah Aziagba (Anambra)
  5. Minority Leader – Eunice Bwala (Borno)
  6. Deputy Minority Leader – Salihu Yero (Gombe)
  7. Chief Whip – Mustapha Tukur (Kaduna)
  8. Deputy Chief Whip – Bukola Eunice Idowu (Ekiti)
  9. Minority Whip – Sunday Olubiyi (Ogun)
  10. Deputy Minority Whip – Saudatu Ukasha (Sokoto)
  11. Clerk – Peace Afabor (Delta)
  12. Sergeant-At-Arms – Sumaiya Lamorde (Adamawa)
