The House Committee on Constitution Review, with support from Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC) and the European Union (EU), hosted a high-level Consultative Engagement with National Leadership of Political Parties in Nigeria at the Wells Carlton Hotel, Asokoro, Abuja.

The session convened National Chairmen, National Secretaries, and National Women Leaders from the 19 political parties as part of the Committee’s efforts to build consensus among political actors on priority constitutional reforms.

Chairman of the House Committee on Constitution Review, and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives – Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu reaffirmed the commitment of the National Assembly to deepen stakeholder participation in shaping Nigeria’s democratic future.

The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, who was represented at the event by Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno (Chief Whip of the Senate) noted that before the National Assembly are critical amendment bills that will define Nigeria’s democratic trajectory, including proposals to guarantee women’s representation in the legislature.
