The fourth bi-weekly meeting for the 2024 PLAC Legislative Interns took place on Friday, November 29th 2024, at the PLAC Office in Abuja, with participation from members of the PLAC team and invited resource persons. Welcome remark was delivered by Mr. Clement Nwankwo, Executive Director of the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC). This session featured Dr. Kayode Fayemi the former Executive Governor of Ekiti State (2010 – 2014; 2018 – 2022), who shared insights with the interns on how young people can engage effectively and meaningfully with government. Additionally, Mr. Temidayo Musa, Head of Operations Civic Hive, discussed the importance of digital tools in advocacy, civic engagement, and community organizing. Barr. @ReubenImarha from the Legacy Leadership and Development Foundation also led a session on bill drafting for the interns.
Mr. Benjamin Ekeyi, a legislative strengthening expert at the NASS, was present to assist the interns during their rehearsal for the upcoming Model Legislative Assembly. This event will allow the interns to reenact a plenary session of the National Assembly, showcasing the skills and knowledge they’ve gained throughout their 10-week internship program.
