The House of Representatives at its plenary session of Thursday, 14 October 2021, read for the Third Time and Passed the Bills to establish the South East Development Commission (HB 887), the South West Development Commission (HB 597), the North Central Development Commission (HB 23), and the North West Development Commission (HB 710).
The House of Representatives considered and approved the report on the bills establishing the South East Development Commission and South West Development Commission on Tuesday, 12 October 2021, and the report on the bills to establish the North Central Development Commission and the North West Development Commission on Thursday, 14 October 2021.
Leading the debate for consideration of these reports, the Majority Leader, Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa (APC: Kano) noted that these Bills, if signed into law, will establish Commissions for the South-East, South- West, North-Central and North -West geo-political zones which shall be responsible for developing the economic potentials of these regions including formulation and implementation of policies through allocations received from the Federation Account.
