The House of Representatives has summoned the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris over documents relating to the 2017 Appropriations Bill which was allegedly removed from the residence of the Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations, Sen. Danjuma Goje (PDP: Gombe) by officers of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF).
Moving the motion titled “Need to Check Excesses of Security Agents with Regard to Invasion of Residences of Law Abiding Citizens” at the plenary session of Wednesday, April 26th 2017, Hon. Abubakar Yunusa Ahmad (APC: Gombe) noted with concern, that the way and manner security agents invaded the privacy of citizens in the course of their duties was without regard to law and due process. Hon. Ahmad also described the invasion of Sen. Goje’s residence as amounting to gross violation of his fundamental human right and explained that the security agents had also made away with the report of the 2017 Appropriation Bill, scheduled to be laid before both chambers of the National Assembly in the course of the week.
The House of Representatives further called on the IGP to return all documents relating to the 2017 Appropriation Bill no later than Thursday, April 27th 2017.
