The enactment of the Police Act 2020 was a significant development for the Nigeria Police and for Nigerians in general. The law has laid the framework for efficient and effective policing in the country. However, the reality of institutional challenges within the police and other security agencies, as well as the spate of insecurity have generated calls for a police reform and even state police.
