Clifford Ordia (Edo: PDP) noted that the\npurpose of the Promissory Note Programme and Bond Issuance is to clear unpaid\ndebt owed by the Federal Government. He noted that the legislative actions\ncarried out by the Committee on the matter had included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Conducting\na briefing session with relevant agencies of the Federal and State Government;<\/li><li>Reviewing\nwritten submissions and memoranda presented by the Ministry of Finance, Bureau\nof Public Procurement and the Kogi State Government; and <\/li><li>Carrying\nan oversight visit to Kogi State to assess the projects executed to ascertain\nthat it met the standard stipulated by the Federal Ministry of Works.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ordia stated that the Committee\nhad observed that the Federal Highways across the State were duly completed, noting\nthat the principles of procurement as provided for by the Federal Bureau of\nPublic Procurement were also adhered to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It will be recalled that President\nMuhammadu Buhari had requested Senate\u2019s approval of payment of the said amount\nto the Kogi State Government via a letter read by the President of the Senate,\nSen.
