The House of Representatives at its plenary session of 14th November\n2019 resolved to vire the sum of one hundred million naira (N100,000,000)\nallocated for personnel cost in the 2019 Budget for the National Assembly\nService Commission to cover its overhead and capital cost instead. Lawmakers\nwere of the view that this would enable the Commission utilize the fund\nappropriately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Presenting the motion, Hon. Sani U. Bala (APC: Kano) stated that one\nhundred million naira (N100, 000, 000) had been budgeted to cover personnel\ncost (such as the payment of salaries and allowances) of new recruits to the National\nAssembly Service Commission in the 2019 budget. However, since then, the\nexpected employees has not yet been appointed and were unlikely to resume\nbefore January 2020. Due to this, the said sum was unlikely to be utilized at\nthe end of December 2019, which concludes Nigeria\u2019s budgetary fiscal year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking further, he stated it was a practice for all Ministries,\nDepartments and Agencies (MDAs) to return all their unspent personnel cost to\nthe Treasury Single Account (TSA) by the end of December 2019. But that instead\nof doing this a virement of the said money would be more appropriate given that\nthe Commission was is in dire need of capital funds in view of the deplorable\nstate of its furniture and sundry office equipment which were purchased over\nten years ago and were in poor condition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
