It would be recalled that the Senate commenced consideration of the Bill on Thursday 14th July, and deferred further consideration to 21<sup>st<\/sup> July, 2016. The Bill which is sponsored by Sen. Andy Uba (PDP:Anambra) seeks to repeal the <strong><em>Nigerian Railway Corporation Act, Cap N129 LFN 2004<\/em><\/strong> to provide for the establishment of the Nigeria Railway Authority and to establish the framework for private sector participation in the provision of rail services as well as provide for the regulation of the railway sector. Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki (APC:Kwara) commenting on the Bill\u2019s passage in the Senate said the <strong><em>Nigerian Railway Corporation Act 2004<\/em><\/strong> is over 50 years old and not in line with modern economy. He stated that most developed countries have modern railway systems.
