The Senate at its plenary session of Wednesday, 5 February 2020 held a briefing session with the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Mohammed Adamu over the concept, modality and practical implementation of Community Policing Policy in Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through a motion moved by the Majority Leader of the\nSenate, Sen. Yahaya Abdullahi (APC: Kebbi) the public was informed that the IGP\nwas admitted into the chamber for the briefing session which held behind closed\ndoors. Although extensive details of the briefing remained undisclosed, the\nPresident of the Senate, Sen. Ahmad Lawan (APC: Yobe) highlighted issues\npertaining to national security, armed banditry on highways, the illegal\ncirculation of firearms and synergy among the State Governments as forming part\nof the deliberations. The President of the Senate also reiterated the Senate\u2019s\ncommitment to support the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force through the\nimplementation of legislative interventions and measures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
