Earlier today, the 2026 PLAC Legislative Internship Programme (LIP) cohort<\/strong> visited the European Union Delegation in Nigeria<\/strong>, where the interns participated in an engaging dialogue on Nigeria\u2019s democratic development and the country\u2019s partnership with the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A key highlight of the visit was an interactive session with EU Ambassador Gautier Mignot<\/strong>, who shared insights into the EU\u2013Nigeria partnership<\/strong>, with discussions spanning democratic governance, youth inclusion, humanitarian assistance and development cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ambassador provided perspectives on the role of the European Union in supporting Nigeria\u2019s development priorities and strengthening cooperation across a range of areas of mutual interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Engaging in Meaningful Dialogue<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The interns actively participated in the discussion, asking questions on a broad range of issues relevant to Nigeria\u2019s development and its relationship with the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their questions covered areas including trade and investment, women\u2019s political participation, healthcare financing and opportunities for young people<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exchange provided the interns with an opportunity to gain firsthand perspectives on international development cooperation and the role of diplomatic institutions in supporting democratic governance and inclusive development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visit forms part of the broader learning experience of the 2026 PLAC Legislative Internship Programme<\/strong>, exposing participants to key institutions and stakeholders while deepening their understanding of governance, democracy, public policy and international relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The engagement at the EU Delegation further enriched the interns\u2019 experience, providing valuable insights that complement their legislative training and practical exposure throughout the programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
