Prior to the decision taken by the House, the Senate had also adjourned plenary on Thursday 22<sup>nd<\/sup> November in honour of Nigeria\u2019s fallen heroes.<\/p>\n<p>Some lawmakers had faulted the Executive, for claiming more than two years ago that the insurgents had been \u201ctechnically defeated.\u201d Section 218(2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) gives the President powers to appoint the Chief of Army Staff; a position currently occupied by Tukur Yusuf Buratai.
