At a ceremony held on Tuesday, March 7 in Abuja, the Independent National Electoral\u00a0 Commission (INEC) presented Certificates of Return to 101 Senators whom it declared winners from the February 25 National Assembly elections. According to INEC, several supplementary elections will still be conducted, while a fresh election will be conducted in the Enugu East Senatorial District, where election had been countermanded as a result of the death of the candidate of the Labour Party, Oyibo Chukwu. Certificates of Return for Members elected to the House of Representatives were presented to them on Wednesday, March 8. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With results\nannounced at this time, the current National Assembly has suffered about 70%\nattrition rate, with just about 30% of current National Assembly members\nreturning to the 10<sup>th<\/sup> Assembly which will be inaugurated early June\n2023. No State managed to return 100% of its members. Five States returned two\nof their current Senators. These States are: Abia, Adamawa, Kano, Kwara and\nYobe. In the House of Representatives, 26 States have two or more returning\nmembers, with Lagos State leading with nine out of 24 members, &nbsp;followed by Borno State which recorded seven\nreturning members out of 10 members. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 101\nSenators-elect announced so far are spread across seven political parties,\nwith&nbsp; one fresh election and seven\nsupplementary elections still outstanding. In the House of Representatives, 326\nMembers-elect have been announced cutting across eight political parties. &nbsp;Thirty-two supplementary elections are outstanding,\nand a declaration for one Constituency (Doguwa\/Tudun Wada) was removed from the\nlist on account of what INEC described as \u201cDeclaration made under duress.\u201d &nbsp;Another Constituency (Akoko South East\/Akoko\nSouth West) declaration\nis currently on hold pending resolution of court disputation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A complete list\nof persons elected to the Senate and House of Representatives will likely\nemerge ahead of the inauguration of the 10<sup>th<\/sup> Assembly at the end of\nthe first week of June, as INEC is still conducting supplementary and other\nelections to fill undeclared seats. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See the list of Senators-elect and House of Representatives Members-elect declared so far:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-pdfemb-pdf-embedder-viewer\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After a controversial general election marred by allegations of irregularities and failure, results for\u00a0the National Assembly elections held February 25, 2023 are almost complete.
