{"id":3040,"date":"2022-12-09T15:54:02","date_gmt":"2022-12-09T15:54:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/placng.org\/Legist\/?p=3040"},"modified":"2022-12-09T16:02:56","modified_gmt":"2022-12-09T16:02:56","slug":"pvc-collection-to-commence-december-12","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/placng.org\/Legist\/pvc-collection-to-commence-december-12\/","title":{"rendered":"PVC Collection to Commence December 12"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As the 2023 general elections draw near, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has asked newly registered voters and voters who applied for transfer or replacement of Permanent Voters\u2019 Cards (PVCs) to get set to collect their PVCs from 12<sup>th<\/sup> December. It will be recalled that INEC conducted the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise between June 2021 and July 2022, which saw over 12 \u00a0million new voters registered. However, after deleting over 2.7 million invalid registrations, a total of 9, 518,188 newly registered voters remained. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\ncollection exercise will commence at INEC Local Government Offices. Collection\nwill be taken to the Ward level between 6<sup>th<\/sup> and 15<sup>th<\/sup>\nJanuary 2023 for those who are unable to collect theirs at the Local Government\nlevel and will revert to the Local Government level from 16<sup>th<\/sup>\nJanuary until the end of the exercise on 22<sup>nd<\/sup> January 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\nresponse to allegations of the harvesting of Voter Identification Numbers\n(VINs) from PVCs by INEC staff for malicious purposes as seen in a video online,\nINEC has explained that what the Commission\u2019s staff were seen doing in the\nvideo was feeding into an online component to enhance the PVC collection\nprocess. According to a statement by the Commission, there will be a dedicated\nportal where voters can ascertain whether their PVCs are ready, as well as find\nthe locations for collection.
