{"id":2986,"date":"2022-11-16T14:57:28","date_gmt":"2022-11-16T14:57:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/placng.org\/Legist\/?p=2986"},"modified":"2022-11-16T15:57:54","modified_gmt":"2022-11-16T15:57:54","slug":"csos-legislators-agree-on-need-for-cso-representative-office","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/placng.org\/Legist\/csos-legislators-agree-on-need-for-cso-representative-office\/","title":{"rendered":"CSOs, Legislators Agree on Need for CSO Representative Office"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Senators from the Senate Committee on NGOs and Diaspora and members of the House of Representatives Committee on CSOs and Development Partners, agreed on Monday,&nbsp; November 14, 2022, to work towards and support the revamping and&nbsp; establishment of a Civil Society Liaison Office (CSOLO) in the National Assembly. At the convening of CSOs and National Assembly members organised by Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC), with support from the European Union Agents for Citizen Driven Transformation (EU-ACT) and the British Council, it was agreed that there was an important need for a representative office for civil society organisations (CSOs) in the National Assembly to help bridge the gap and improve communications between the National Assembly and civil society. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Standard\nOperating Manual for CSOLO developed by PLAC was adopted at the meeting. The\nmanual aims to do the following: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Define the mandate and\noperational scope of CSOLO; <\/li><li>Clearly spell out the\nobjectives, mechanisms and structures needed to enhance the administration,\nmanagement and coordination of CSOLO; <\/li><li>Clearly outline the\nroles and responsibilities of the Advisory Committee and staff of CSOLO; <\/li><li>Clearly set out a Code\nof Conduct for CSOLO Staff; <\/li><li>Provide a step-by-step\non the workflow processes for the CSOLO; <\/li><li>Outline Key\nPerformance Indicators (KPIs) for the operations of CSOLO; and <\/li><li>Provide guidance on\nCSO advocacy efforts and strategies for engagement with the National Assembly<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Senators from the Senate Committee on NGOs and Diaspora and members of the House of Representatives Committee on CSOs and Development Partners, agreed on Monday,&nbsp; November 14, 2022, to work towards and support the revamping and&nbsp; establishment of a Civil Society Liaison Office (CSOLO) in the National Assembly.
