The retreat had the theme, \u201cImproving the Effectiveness of Legislative Committee Administration\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose\nof the retreat was to strengthen the capacity of Committee Clerks with a view\nto enhancing their effectiveness in carrying out their mandate and improving\nbudgetary skills in the preparation and finalisation of budget documents. It\nwas organised with a view to improving the co-operation between the Clerks and\ntheir political principles, civil society organisations (CSOs), and also to\nassist them with documenting their efforts in the 9<sup>th<\/sup> National\nAssembly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his\nremarks, Executive Director of PLAC, Clement Nwankwo noted the importance of\nthe role of Clerks as an essential part of the National Assembly bureaucracy\nand providing support to the work of legislators. Nwankwo encouraged Committee\nClerks to improve&nbsp; legislative relationship\nwith civil society by partnering with CSOs that work with the legislature and\nbuilding their collection of resources using publications and other relevant\nmaterials from such CSOs.
