This was disclosed in a letter read on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday, 14<sup>th<\/sup> December. The nominees who have been presented to the Senate for confirmation are as follows: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Mallam Mohammed Haruna (Niger State) \u2013 National Commissioner North Central <\/li><li>Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu (Delta State) &#8211; National Commissioner South South<\/li><li>Sam Olugbadebo Olumekun (Ondo State) &#8211; National Commissioner South West<\/li><li>Okeagbu Kenneth Nnamdi (Abia State) &#8211; National Commissioner South East<\/li><li>Maj. Gen. A.B Alkali (Rtd) (Adamawa State) &#8211; National Commissioner North East<\/li><li>Prof. Rada H. Gumus (Bayelsa State) &#8211; National Commissioner South South<\/li><li>Mr. Olaniyi Olaleye Ijalaye (Ondo State) &#8211; Resident Electoral Commissioner South West<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the five National Commissioners nominated,\ntwo are re-nominations \u2013 Mohammed Haruna and May Agbamuche-Mbu. National\nCommissioner nominee from the South East, Okeagbu Kenneth\nNnamdi is presently Director\nof Procurement at INEC\u2019s headquarters. The National Commissioner nominee from\nthe South West, Sam Olugbadebo Olumekun is currently the Resident Electoral\nCommissioner (REC) of Lagos State. The Senate is required under section 154 of\nthe 1999 Nigerian Constitution to screen the nomination of persons to the\npositions of INEC National Commissioners and Resident Electoral Commissioners.\nIt is expected that nomination hearings by the Senate will be scheduled early\nin the new year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It will be recalled that the President swore\nin five INEC National Commissioners in September and October 2021, who had been\ncleared by the Senate earlier in the year.
