ElectHER, Yiaga Africa and Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC) with support from the European Union are set to hold a Townhall Meeting on #SeatsToElectHER. This will be live on Channels Television at 7pm today, Friday, 3rd December 2021. #SeatsToElectHER is a conversation on improving women’s political inclusion in Nigeria and the meeting will focus on discussions around opportunities for real change in increasing women’s political representation.
Despite 22 years of democracy and with women representing half of the population, women representation in elected offices currently stands at 4.43%. Unfortunately, this status quo which is not a true representation of society in political governance poses a great threat to the socio-economic well-being of Nigeria.
