The Senate has granted a one-week extension to its Ad hoc Committee investigating the propriety of Senator Elisha Abbo’s (PDP: Adamawa) actions after a video of the lawmaker assaulting a woman received public out-lash.

The Committee led by Senator Sam Egwu (PDP: Ebonyi) and 6 other Members including Mrs Remi Tinubu, (APC:Lagos) , who chaired the Women Affairs Committee in the 8th Assembly are expected to submit their report on 24 July 2019.

The 41-year-old Senator Abbo, who is the youngest serving Senator in the 9th National Assembly, is serving his first term in the National Assembly. He took over the seat previously occupied by Senator Binta Masi Garba; one of the eight female Senators in the 8th National Assembly.
