Senate confirms Mr.Olanikpekun Olukoyode as Secretary of EFCC

Mr.Olanikpekun Olukoyede is now Secretary of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following Senate’s approval of his nomination on 28 November 2018 in accordance with section 2(3) of the EFCC Act. As secretary and head of the Commission’s administration, Mr. Olanipekun is expected to assist the Commission achieve its objective of coordinating and enforcing economic financial crimes laws among others.

There are however other pending nominations before Senate such as for its confirmation of Mrs. Ronke Shokefun as Chairman of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Commission (which insures deposit liabilities of licensed banks and deposit –taking financial institutions in Nigeria) and Mrs. Abike Dabiri Erewa as Chairman of Nigeria Diaspora Commission (which is vested with the responsibility of coordinating and organising Nigerians in and from the Diaspora to contribute human capital and material resources, for the development of the country).

President Buhari also forwarded the nomination of Hon.Uwani Musa Abba-Aji as Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria to the chamber following the recommendation of the National Judicial Council.
