The low representation of women in elective political offices in Nigeria is no longer news. Yet, it remains a challenge that needs to be addressed urgently. This resource by Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC) shows the number of women in the National Assembly and the State Houses of Assembly between 1999 and 2019, as well as States in Nigeria that currently have no female legislator in their Houses of Assembly. It also highlights 41 African countries that are making use of electoral quotas or special measures to ensure that women are elected.
