Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC) organised two Dialogue Sessions on improving civic space on 2nd  and 9th  November 2023, in Abuja, with support from USAID-SCALE. The sessions were aimed at driving conversations among stakeholders in government and civil society, to identify specific solutions for enhancing the operations of civil society organisations (CSOs).

At the first Dialogue Session held on 2nd November, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Diaspora and NGOs, Senator Victor Umeh, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Civil Society and Development Partners, Hon. Victor Amadi Obuzor and Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Disability, Hon. Bashiru Dawodu Ayinla  were in attendance. Senator Victor Umeh committed to facilitating a CSO-legislative engagement platform to drive further conversations on enhancing the operational environment of CSOs. He also committed to reviving the Civil Society Organisation Liaison Office (CSOLO) in the National Assembly. The Chairmen of the two House Committees committed to  collaborating with CSOs to address the identified issues hampering civic space.
