Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC) with support from the European Union and in collaboration with DAI, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) organised a capacity building workshop for registry staff of Election Petition Tribunals for the 2023 general elections. The workshop held on 9th and 10th January 2023. This workshop was aimed at the training the registry staff to adequately facilitate the administrative aspect of election petitions adjudication. Some of the sessions at the workshop focused on the structure and operations of Election Tribunals, duties of Election Tribunal registry staff as contained in the Electoral Act, 2022 and the Practice Directions, 2022, accounting and accountability of tribunal revenue and funds, as well as Election Petition Tribunal Case Management System.

This is the second part of the Capacity Building Workshop for Justices of the Court of Appeal and Members of the Election Petition Tribunals, which held from 7th to 10th November 2022. The Nigerian judiciary is a major actor in the promotion of credible elections due to the adjudicatory role it plays in election petitions.
