On 15-16 May 2025, the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC), in partnership with the Swiss Parliamentary Services, hosted a two-day capacity building retreat in Abuja for staff of the National Assembly Directorate of Inter-Parliamentary Relations and Friendship Group Committees. The retreat was themed: “Enhancing Inter-Parliamentary Relations for Effective Legislative Diplomacy” and aimed to strengthen the ability of parliamentary staff to foster legislative cooperation and diplomacy.

The event featured expert-led sessions, workshops, and discussions on inter-parliamentary frameworks and diplomatic communication. Facilitators shared global best practices. The retreat was highly interactive, with participants actively contributing to discussions and sharing their experiences. Staff from the Directorate of Inter-Parliamentary Relations appreciated the opportunity to network with peers and learn from experts.

PLAC remains dedicated to promoting good governance and citizens’ access to the legislative process through initiatives like this retreat.

By equipping parliamentary staff with the tools and knowledge needed to excel in their roles, PLAC continues to contribute to the strengthening of Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
