The National Assembly now has a new substantive Clerk – Mr. Kamorudeen Ogunlana. Mr. Ogunlana was nominated for the position of Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA) in December 2024 by the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC). His assumption of duties follows the retirement of the previous Clerk, Alhaji Sani Magaji Tambawal on January 31, 2025.
Mr. Kamorudeen is a lawyer with extensive work experience in the National Assembly. It is expected that this experience would put him in good stead to pilot the affairs of the National Assembly bureaucracy during his tenure.
The Senate chambers of the National Assembly also has a new Clerk – Mr. Andrew Nwoba, who takes over from Barr. Chinedu Akubueze who retired in December 2024. Mr. Akubueze following his retirement was appointed as the Chief of Staff to the Senate President, Dr. Godswill Akpabio. Also in the Senate, the position of Clerk of the Committee on Electoral Matters has become vacant with the movement of its Clerk, Dr. Bello Olatunji to a new position as Chief of Staff to the Clerk of the National Assembly.
It is expected that the important position of the Clerk to the Senate Electoral Matters Committee will be filled very shortly. Observers of the National Assembly bureaucracy anticipate several more retirements and movements in positions as several directors and senior-level staff of the National Assembly are set to retire or be reassigned to new positions.
