Alterations to the 1999 Nigerian Constitution by the National Assembly over time have introduced several developments, including within the electoral system. The electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), civil society organisations (CSOs), political parties and other election stakeholders have worked assiduously for the actualisation of lasting electoral reform. With the 9th National Assembly preparing to harmonise the Electoral Bill, 2021, it is important to note that there are other electoral matters, which may need to be addressed by way of Constitution amendment.
