The House at its plenary session on Thursday, 29th January 2019 passed the 2019 Appropriation Bill for second reading.
Although debate on the general principles of the Bill had initially commenced on 23rd January 2019, deliberations had been suspended after Hon. Abubakar Chika Adamu (APC: Niger), drew the attention of lawmakers to discrepancies in the budget allocations to the Ministries of Finance, Education, Budget and National Planning and the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation whose main statutory components failed to correspond with the total summary in the budget document. However, following the reconciliation of the discrepancies by the identified Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs), the Budget was referred to the House Committee on Appropriation after scaling second reading.
